The Aroland Thermolog Training Program starts Monday, September 22nd, to Friday, October 10th, in Aroland First Nation.

 

You will receive a TEXT/EMAIL with the location of the new Cultural Classroom building site closer to the training date. This is the meeting point for 9am on September 22nd.

 

Your Personal Protection Equipment will be provided on the first day, on-site. Your PPE kit includes: safety gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, a safety vest, a tool belt and brand-new safety boots. Please tell us what size safety boots you wear in advance of the program start date.

- Please advise us if you need housing accommodations and will be travelling to the program from an outside community.

- Please wear comfortable clothes / work clothes.

- Please bring water, a lunch and bug spray or sunscreen with you every day.

There is financial and childcare support available to community members who qualify.

FAQs

Do I need construction experience?

No, you don't require previous construction experience at all! You will gain hands-on experience in:

​

  • Thermolog construction

  • Interior wall construction

  • Electrical and plumbing integration

  • Roof, window & door installation

  • Interior finishing and outfitting

  • Thermolog maintenance

Do I need to bring my own Personal Protection Equipment or tools?

No, we provide everything you need to get started. As a trainee, you are given your own PPE kit to use during the program. You’ll keep this PPE when you graduate and complete the program. We also provide access to a fully equipped tool trailer throughout the program, so you’ll have all the tools you need on-site. Please note, tools are for use during training only and are not kept by trainees after the program.

What do I need to bring with me to the Training Program?

Participants who are travelling away from home to participate in our training programs are responsible for bringing:
•    Their own food and meals for the length of the program.
•    Their own personal hygiene products, bedding, clothing & bug spray/sunscreen.
•    Their own water/beverages for outside program hours. One Bowl provides water throughout the day.

Where does training happen?

The Thermolog Training Program is being held onsite in Aroland First Nation, on the Cultural Classroom building site. We will send you the exact location after you register.  Training starts Monday, September 15th, and ends Friday, October 3rd, 2025. Training week is Monday to Friday with weekends off.

What is included in the Health & Safety Training Certification?

You receive Health & Safety training in PPE, ASERT Fire & Spills, First Aid, CPR & AED, Working at Heights, WHMIS training, AODA, Power & Hand Tool Safety and more. This equips you with certification to apply for work in mining and construction.

Who can register for this Thermolog Training Program?

Any community member with an interest in learning how to build homes and community buildings can register for the FREE Thermolog Training Program.
